Imported day-old chicks
We import broiler, layer and turkey day-old chicks from European hatcheries for farmers who want a specific strain, then deliver them anywhere in Ghana.
How importing works
- You book. Tell us the strain, number of chicks and your target date. We confirm the price and shipment date in writing.
- We order from the hatchery. Chicks hatch in Europe, are vaccinated there and packed in ventilated airfreight boxes.
- Flown to Accra. The consignment arrives at Kotoka International Airport with its veterinary health certificate and is cleared under a Ghana import permit.
- To your farm. Collect at the airport cargo area or the farm in Kasoa, or we send the boxes on to your region.
Minimum order: one box of 50 chicks (turkey poults: box of 10). Larger orders from 1,000 chicks are quoted individually.

Importing questions
Where do your imported day-old chicks come from?
From commercial hatcheries in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany that supply Ross, Cobb, Hy-Line, Bovans and Lohmann chicks.
How far ahead should I book imported chicks?
Book at least three to four weeks ahead. Shipments are planned around confirmed orders, and festive season slots fill first.
Are imported chicks better than locally hatched chicks?
Not automatically. Imported chicks give you a specific strain straight from the primary hatchery. Locally hatched chicks avoid a long journey and reach your brooder within hours. Both are vaccinated; choose by the strain you need and your timeline.
What paperwork travels with imported chicks?
Each consignment travels with an official veterinary health certificate from the exporting country and is cleared under a Ghana import permit from the Veterinary Services Directorate.
